thrive pittsburgh

supper club

Sunday, September 28

5PM - 7PM

downstairs in the Fellowship Hall

Come enjoy a full course dinner featuring delicious authentic Guatemalan cuisine and an after-dinner cultural program at McKnight UMC! THRIVEPittsburgh is an organization founded as a mission of North Hills Community Baptist Church (NHCBC) in Ross Township. THRIVE began in 2018 when a group of concerned members and friends of NHCBC, inspired by their pastor's sermon to meet the needs of suffering people, decided to learn about and do something about the refugee crisis. Since then, THRIVE has helped over 100 refugees and their families assimilate to their new country and feel welcomed to Pittsburgh. One way of doing that is to empower refugee cooks through its Supper Club initiative. A Supper Club is an event where people gather around a table of delicious ethnic food, prepared by a refugee. Guests will learn about the refugee's "Coming to America" story and of his/her culture. Increased empathy and understanding of our newest neighbors are the by-products of this unique shared experience.

We hope you will join us at McKnight United Methodist Church on September 28th from 5 to 7 pm. Each ticket purchased helps raise funds to supplement the income of our guest cook from Guatemala. Adult tickets are $30 and children 5-17 are $20; ticket sales start this Sunday at McKnight UMC. Children under 5 are free with the purchase of an adult ticket. Global Links

Global Links no longer accepts boxes. They are transitioning to boxes of all the same size and shape to make packaging easier and more efficient. The group that usually helps from McKnight have decided NOT to volunteer for Global Links until further notice. Thank you to all who have donated in the past for all of your support in this great ministry!
