September 24, 2023 Seventeenth Sunday After Pentecost

Matthew is in some ways a tough gospel, and I have found the preparation work each week fairly difficult, but have been learning new things for each passage, and that is exciting—life-giving—to me!

And third, we have some great events coming up in the future!  We have Alive (more information in this newsletter), in which we have a chance to see what’s happening in United Methodism in Western Pennsylvania—it will be inspiring and will generate some new ideas and possibilities for us, too.  We also have our upcoming Harvest Dinner, coordinated by the M&Ms, which will be a great time of good food and good fellowship—come to think of it, invite a guest!

I’ll see you in church,

Becky

Prayer

Holy and generous God,

We so often get stuck in math problems,

In comparison and in scarcity,

Worried that we won’t get what we should.

Help us to see what “enough” is—

Better, help us to see what

“Enough and to share” is.

Release us from our fear

Of missing out, or of giving more

Or of working more than someone else.

Free us to live generously,

Trusting in your abundance,

Grateful for enough.

Help us to notice our everyday blessings.

In the name of the one who gave everything for us. Amen.
