Loving God, like Peter, we promise and we stumble, we pledge ourselves and we fail—and yet your love never fails. In the form of Jesus, you took the worst that humanity had to offer, from beloved friends falling away or even betraying you, to brutality and execution at the hands of the rulers of the day. And yet your answer is and has always been love. We give thanks to you that that same love continues for us today, that redemption is given, and that no human effort or failure or end is allowed to define everything. Your grace both humbles and redeems us, Lord, defining us in your own terms, and we give you thanks and praise. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
