The study is aimed at refreshing our sense of calling, and helping us think about how we live into our new denominational vision statement: “The United Methodist Church forms disciples of Jesus Christ, who, empowered by the Holy Spirit, Love Boldly, Serve Joyfully, and Lead Courageously in local communities and worldwide connections.” In our first week, we talked about how formation is something God does in us through the work of the Holy Spirit, how important community and participation is to formation, and we thought out loud together about our own discipleship and where we might see God working in us in this moment. The study is designed for six weeks, but we are modifying it for four, given the needs of our Bible study group in this moment. We would love for you to join us if you can.
Grace and peace,
Becky
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, You are the foundation of our vision, the light that leads our steps, and the hope that strengthens our mission. As we move forward in faith, may Your Spirit guide us in unity with a shared purpose. Help us to trust in Your wisdom, embrace Your calling, and boldly proclaim Your love to the world. May our church remain faithful to Your vision, sharing Christ’s love, and seeking justice, mercy, and transformation in all we do. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.[1]
