I’ve been thinking about the make-up of the congregation, and your particular needs. Some of you are working long hours at your jobs, and others need flexibility to be able to travel to see grandchildren. Some of you have more availability than others.
Considering those factors, I’d like us to consider doing a fundraiser. It’s a short-term commitment that can do a lot of good, and we can plan it around the congregation’s needs as well. Since it’s summer, we could perhaps do some barbecue, and invite the neighborhood along with our friends. If our cause is local, we will be showing our neighbors that we have relevance for their community. It’s doesn’t have to be high-intensity preparation to be a good time of neighborhood connection and fellowship.
I would love to hear your ideas—you are a creative and contributing congregation, and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do together!
I’ll see you in church—
Becky
Prayer
Gracious God,
You invite us to be part of your work in the world,
And for that we are grateful.
You have ordered the world in such a way
That we human beings can make a change.
Help us to live into your gifts to us,
And to witness to your love by our actions.
Help us to build each other up,
And to make the world better,
And to make you and your church
Visible for your love.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
