December 8, 2024 Second Sunday of Advent

We’ll have a simple and nourishing dinner, and then time for conversation and learning together.  Dr. Tuell is a gifted teacher with a great love of his subject, and he has a great sense of humor, too, so each night should be a rich experience together.  I hope you can join us!

I’ll see you in church,

Becky

Prayer

God of light and God of wonder, in these darkening days we can feel a need to hibernate, to settle down under blankets in a comfortable chair and be quiet for a while.  When we need that rest, let us allow ourselves to take it, and to know that we are held by you.  And if that quiet time then begins to hold us back, give us courage to step back into the briskness around us, that we might remember that we are also part of the world around us.  Give us the presence of mind to help each other, and even the strangers, in a world that can be a difficult and hostile place sometimes. Help us to remember that even small gestures matter, that even a small light can bring comfort and warmth to a hurting world.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
