I know that not everyone loves our current abundance of snow (although it does help those with Seasonal Affective Disorder by reflecting rather than absorbing the winter light), but I ask that you remember that it, too, is a gift. It’s easy to take water for granted, until you see what it’s like not to have enough. So as you pray, remember that even some inconveniences can be a gift, and give thanks for the things that you don’t have to worry about.
Grace and peace,
Becky
Prayer
Holy and loving God, we ask that you be with the people in Southern California right now, that you help those affected by fires or the threat of fires to find safe shelter. We ask that you give the firefighters strength and endurance, and that you keep them safe, helping them to make good choices as they do the hard work of reducing risk to the local communities. Be with the people, too, in another way, as they strategize and cope with the consequences of decisions made long ago. Alert us to the ways that we also contribute to climate change, and move us now to protect this world that you have given to us to steward, so that our own choices help to slow the storms and reduce the risk, both now and in the future. Help us to protect this world and its people, whom you so love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
