July 13, 2025 Fifth Sunday After Pentecost

So every Sunday we come together and we pray together and we sing together and we listen to the Scriptures together. We have quiet times and responsive times. But what Davis is pointing out is that these times are not simply for our education, although that is also a good outcome. These are also times when we recenter ourselves in the One who calls us by participating in practices and by hearing texts and prayers, and in part, this is done in order that we become more the people that God created us to be. We are “reordered”—reorganized around God—because participating in worship shapes us. It has an effect on who we are. Worship helps us along the path to become spiritually well, helps correct misdirection, helps us to remember whose we are.

So for Davis’ reason and for so many others, I look forward to seeing you in church!

Grace and peace,

Becky

Prayer

Holy God, this life we lead is often a bit of a mystery to us—what we can control, what we can’t, and what can be done in response. Even in the midst of puzzlement or confusion or simply indecision, we give you thanks for your creation and for your love, and we ask that you help us to honor you in our worship and in our lives. We trust that your work in us continues day by day, not only as individuals, but as a community as well. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
