Another concrete way of loving our neighbors is understanding the opioid epidemic that affects so many. I encourage you all to attend the talk this Sunday evening with the Rev. Dr. Barry Ball, and to invite friends and neighbors. Barry is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church and a retired DEA agent, and he did his Doctor of Ministry thesis on this subject as well, so we can expect both good information and a good heart to the talk. I can also tell you from having traveled with him in England that Barry is a lot of fun, so I’m sure it will be a good evening.
Grace and peace to you and yours,
Becky
Prayer:
Gracious and loving God, you have called us to love boldly, just as you have loved us. As we reflect on your love and your word, open our hearts to your transformative presence. Help us to deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ, so that our love may overflow to those around us. Guide us to embrace and uplift every person’s regardless of background or circumstance, as a reflection of your unconditional love. May your Spirit lead us, filling us with wisdom, compassion, and a renewed sense of purpose. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.[1]
