First, that I have been voted onto the board of Kidcelerate (associated with Bethany House), and when I attended last night’s meeting I heard really good things about the state of the budget and the fundraising for the new building—to which we contributed! I also heard that they are now running into the sorts of snags that often accompany new construction. While the townships (evidently for this property there are two) are being very helpful, the bigger footprint of the new building brings up new logistical and building concerns. I invite you to pray that these necessary tests and permits to proceed smoothly, as the ministry is prevented from including any more students until it has the space to do so.

Second, we had a wonderful meeting with Barry Ball on Sunday night, and we learned a great deal about the physiology of addiction and the social circumstances and consequences around it, and we learned about some excellent ways that the church can help. We are in process on at least one of those already, and we will keep you posted.

Prayer

We give you thanks, Holy and triune God, for your blessing on our McKnight church community. We see it every Sunday in connections made and support given, in prayers offered, in service given, and in actions taken. We give you thanks as well for our preschool community, which among many other things, offers a low-stakes way for the wider community to encounter our church. We thank you for the love and the teaching that happen in the preschool, and we ask that you bless the children who are graduating on to kindergarten. We ask your blessing on their families as well, as they help their children make this transition. And finally, loving God, we thank you for the gift of presence with us of the Holy Spirit, especially for the guidance given and for the sustaining love. We pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.
