March 17, 2024 Fifth Sunday in Lent

Whatever your choices about Lenten practices, whether soup suppers or reading through the gospel of John or another practice altogether, I also want to encourage you to pray for each other and for the church.  We do have a running list of concerns in our newsletter and in our bulletin, and sometimes you’ll also be aware of concerns that for one reason or another haven’t been shared to the full community.  We all know that prayer is coming before God, and often holding a concern up to God, but you may be surprised to find that prayer is also a formative practice:  prayer changes you, too.

As you go about your week, know that I am praying for you all during the week as well as on Sunday.  I’ll see you in church—

Prayer

Loving God, in a world so full of loneliness, we are grateful that you have called us together in community.  Thank you for giving us each other.  Thank you that we are prayed for even as we pray for each other.  Thank you for the times of encounter, which range from casual to heartfelt, for a community who knows who we are and where we have been, and who sees and loves us as we are.  We ask your blessing on this community, and that you help us to extend that blessing to the community around us.  May our fellowship always be open to more people in your name.  Amen.
