And finally, given that this year marks 1700 years since the Council of Nicaea, we have just arranged for the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Woo to come to McKnight to talk to us about what happened there and why it matters. Dr. Woo was my own Church History professor in seminary, and I can attest that his knowledge is impressive and that he is an excellent speaker. That event will be on October 23rd and 30th, at 7:00 p.m. I am aware that driving after dark is a concern for some congregants, so please let the office know if you would like to carpool with someone for this event—we don’t want anyone to miss it!

Gracious God, we thank you for the gifts that McKnight Church has been given. We thank you for the community of the church, and for the community around it. We ask that you help us to faithfully and wisely discern our participation, so that we can steward our lives and our time in ways that respect the needs of our church and our community, even while we also pay attention to the needs of ourselves and our families. We are always a work in progress, Holy God, both as individuals and as churches, and we trust always in your grace and in your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
